Rumors for Uragoth

Location

Central Xaria. Surrounding lands (clockwise): Telumar (N), Dakkor (E), Quivera (S), Doro Y’Edhel (SW), Chalter Medrium (W), Icara (NW)

Land

Dense forest and mountains make up the land. In the center of the Uragoth is Wyrm Lake.

Resources

Nothing within the forest can be considered resources because no one lives there. Nothing can be exported, the monsters are too plentiful to avoid or fight. The only creatures that live in Uragoth are monsters. It is the home of Orcs, Ogres, Goblins, Hobgoblins and others. It is also thought to be the birthplace of the Dragon. Dragons are said to come from the very potent magik lake in the center of the forest, Wyrm Lake.

Past

The legends say that Uragoth is the birthplace of magik. It is believed that the forest is the origin of life and magik. Elves and humans both have stories about Uragoth and its power.

Present

Few dare to pass through Uragoth. Those that do and live have horror tales to frighten the most hardened warriors. Orcs have continuously attacked the northern towns of Doro Y’Edhel and the towns of other bordering countries. The movement of the Dark Elves through monster land caused some unrest in recent years. but currently the orcish army seems content to skirmish with its border neighbors and focus most of their efforts on their eastern neighbors.

Capital

There is no capital in Uragoth. There are only monster villages, tribes and lairs. With the organization under King Ank it may be possible there is a seat of power. No information exsits on whether or not it is so.

Government

The monsters have been unified under the banner of King Ank, a powerful orc standing taller than normal. Ruling through both might and playing to the monster religions, he has unified the tribes and villages under him into a fighting force on par with any of the 'human' realms.

Military

Other than several tribes of monsters, there is the Orc Army. The Orc Army is located somewhere in the southwest of the forest. The Orc numbers seen limitless. Losses in raids to Doro Y’Edhel don’t seem to affect the Orc Army at all. A keen eye is being kept on the borders of Uragoth, as western Xaria is uncomfortable knowing that the potential threat of an Orc invasion could be near.

Current History

Little is known about the truthful history of the monster nation. Since a vial of water from Wyrm Lake has been returned to them, the monsters seem to have retreated from most human nations.

Forays into Doro'Y'Edhel are ongoing with the death of the Elven Queen and weakening of the magikal borders protecting their forests.

In 505 a small scouting party under Warlord Mauk was sent into Chalter Medrium to establish as base in the ruins of Sarwen's Keep. Despite Sawren's Post being burned to the ground, the monsters were repelled and the keep reclaimed by the human government.

Dakkor had briefly become a tributary of Uragoth, and reports from Palrim and Lindora confirm humans working with monsters wearing Ank's standard. Disagreement over this alliance turned into a civil war between Dakkorian houses, with Ank withdrawing his troops shortly thereafter.
